Zara clothing chain is growing rapidly and officialy now overtook the US giant Gap, the first fashion retailer in the world. The Spanish Inditex group (the parental company of Zara) sees this success as a result of an unconventional approach to the company structure and activity. Zara clothing sales had a breakthrough to the first place in the world due to the companie's unique management system of designing, producing and supply chains. Unlike all massive corporations, Zara clothing group doesn't have staff handbooks and there is minimum of hierarchy in the company.
Zara has full control over the whole process and here is how it goes: First of all, it is good to mention that the cloth is delivered directely to the warehouse of Zara by the 3rd parties located nearby.
Zara designs and selects the clothing items for production, cuts the cloth, then the sewing is performed by the contracted companies. The garments now go back to the warehouse for labelling and packaging.
The next step is sending the clothing straight to the stores avoiding the warehouses in between. Zara's integrated process has all its advantages as the speed for example.
Zara clothing goes from designing to the customer in only 10-14 days. The stores' managers have the freedom of choosing the clothing to sell, (styles, sizes, colours and the quantity) they can select from the clothing range, presented by the Spanish headquarters.
